GSA Marketing team wins prestigious HEIST Awards
The Marketing team at The
Glasgow School of Art scooped two prizes at the prestigious
HEIST Awards last night, 9 July 2015, including
the top prize, Marketing Department of the Year, for its success in delivering
the GSA’s brand values against the back drop of the disruption caused by
the fire in the Mackintosh Building.
The judges, who were drawn
from leading educational institutions and the media, commended the GSA’s
very small but strategic team who ensured brand
reputation during a period of adversity.”

Earlier in the evening the
GSA had also picked up the award for Best Prospectus from a Specialist Institution award for Reflections on an art school
which was described by the judges as
a hugely engaging, bold and
innovative prospectus which lives and breathes GSA’s brand identity
. Designed by Glasgow and Amsterdam based Studio Stand, a
leading graphic design agency headed by GSA alumni, the publication gives
potential students a flavour of life and study at one of the world’s top ten
specialist HE art and design institutions as well as demonstrating how that
creative education is then translated into professional practice. The
publication, which was designed by 2008 GSA Visual Communication graduate Claudine
Cockburn, has four limited edition covers representing undergraduate and
postgraduate disciplines.

“We are delighted to have won
these prestigious awards,”
says Kirsty Barr, Marketing and Communications
Manager at The Glasgow School of Art. “It has been a challenging year for the
GSA with the many difficulties posed by the fire in the Mackintosh Building to
be overcome. This professional recognition of our efforts in the HEIST Awards
is hugely appreciated.”
“We were particularly
pleased to win the best prospectus award for Reflections on art school,”
she adds. “As well
as giving potential students a taste of life at the GSA it also makes a
powerful statement about the creativity which is at the heart of the GSA, and
how our graduates translate creative education into professional practice.”

Success in the HEIST awards
follows on the 2015 THEMLAs where the GSA won Marketing and Communication team
of the year for its handling of the fire and its aftermath.

The HEIST Awards
The internationally recognised annual Heist Awards for Education
Marketing have evolved over more than twenty years to become the premier awards
programme for marketing in the further and higher education sectors. Over those
years we have seen a vast change in the work that marketing functions perform
and the Awards have also moved with the times to reflect this, with categories
reviewed annually. The Heist Awards exist to recognise and celebrate the
professionalism, expertise and innovation that we find throughout the sector,
from the smallest regional college, to global education brands.
