Bookable Safe Workspace Update
As outlined in our update email of last week we are opening bookable safe workspace in the Reid Building for all GSA students who are currently in Glasgow and who do not have a safe workspace at home during the current Lockdown in which to make work.
The spaces that have been made available have been prepared to provide an equivalent to a safe home working environment, in line with Scottish Government COVID-19 guidelines, and are located on the 2nd floor of the Reid Building – in the Refectory and ComDes studio spaces.
Initially you can book spaces for any 2 days in any single week.
Booking is available through Connect 2 from midday tomorrow, Friday 15 January 2021.
The Scottish Government guidance for Universities requires that we severely restrict the numbers of students coming to campus during National Lockdown and we will carefully monitor demand for the workspace, reflect and adjust our plans accordingly. We are also continually monitoring and reviewing the Scottish Government guidance and are currently preparing additional spaces in the building, to be available if we need to due to demand, or can under government guidance, increase your access.
Spaces are bookable as follows:
- 39 safe study spaces are currently available Monday to Friday (9am – 5pm) with further spaces being prepared.
- Each space will be bookable for time slots up to a full day.
- Bookings for the following day can be made up to 3pm the day before. For Monday bookings, the booking must be made by 3pm on Fridays.
- A maximum of two bookings can be made per student, per week.
- Spaces are bookable on a first come, first served basis for eligible students.
- The booking system will confirm the exact location of your space on booking and spaces are clearly labelled on campus.
- Bookings will be released on Friday 15 January through Connect 2.
Using the spaces safely
Students will be expected to follow all GSA and Scottish government guidelines when on campus and in GSA Buildings:
only arrive on the day you have booked, bring your student ID with you, use only your allocated space, wear a face covering, strictly observe social distancing and hygiene measures and do not come onto campus if you have any symptoms or have been asked to self isolate.

The booking system will go live at midday tomorrow, Friday 15 January 2021 on Connect 2.
We do understand the enormous impact of Lockdown on you and right across our community, and are trying to take steps to, where possible, and where government guidance allows, help students access more resources and spaces, whilst keeping our community safe. Other than through bookable resources – the safe workspaces, the library and the Digital Hub, the campus is otherwise not currently open to students and staff due to Scottish government restrictions. Staff will be coming onto campus on a voluntary basis to supervise these spaces and ensure your safety.
Please continue to monitor your email and Student intranet for further updates and support.
