Seminar – Modern Catholic Church Architecture

On Wednesday 26 September the GSA’s Bob Proctor will lead a seminar at The Lighthouse Glasgow on Modern Catholic Church Architecture.
The seminar is part of an Arts and Humanities Research Council funded project researching Roman Catholic Church Architecture in Britain 1955 to 1975. This free public seminar consists of three short talks and a chance to visit the Churches in the Modern World exhibition currently showing at The Lighthouse and brings together:
  • Robert Proctor (Mackintosh School of Architecture, Glasgow School of Art): ‘Updating the Church: Modern Roman
    Catholic Church Architecture’
  • Diane Watters (Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland): ‘Tradition and Modernity:
    Interwar and Postwar Scottish Church Architecture’
  • Dominic Wilkinson (Liverpool John Moores University and Liverpool Architectural Society): ‘Transitions in the Work
    of F. X. Velarde’.
