About The Glasgow School
of Art

The Glasgow School of Art (GSA), based in Scotland for over 100 years,
is internationally recognised as one of Europe’s foremost higher education
institutions for creative education and research in fine art, design and
architecture.

Since the GSA was founded in 1845, as one of the first Government
Schools of Design and as a centre of creativity promoting design excellence throughout
the manufacturing industries, its role has continually evolved and developed to
reflect the aspirations of society locally and internationally.

In September 2012, GSA
began its collaborative initiative to deliver years three and four of its
Bachelor of Art (Hons) Programmes in Communication Design and Interior Design
in Singapore. The partnership with the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) is
located at the Temasek Polytechnic (TP) campus is an exciting and considered
initiative reflecting the design ambitions of Singapore. An initiative which
facilitates the growing wealth of Singapore’s young design and creative talent
The School will help to develop inquisitive, confident and inspired design
graduates with a fusion of local and international design awareness and
process.

All students’
studying in Singapore will have the opportunity to spend three weeks in
Scotland engaging with staff and students from The Glasgow School of Art in the
UK. The students will be working directly with their counterparts in the same
programmes based in Glasgow. This overseas immersion programme will provide an
opportunity to
experience the famous GSA graduation show,
experience the history
and culture of the
School’s historic setting within the city of Glasgow.
