School of Art has moved in to its new Highlands and Islands Creative Campus based on the Altyre Estate
outside Forres. The GSA’s staff, postgraduate students and researchers who

An official
launch for the new campus is scheduled for early 2017 allowing a settling in
period for staff and students. It will take place during the GSA’s Winter
School – a two-week programme that will see international students and
academics join GSA counterparts to research aspects of Highlands and Islands
Life.

The GSA’s Highlands
and Islands Creative campus is a research and post-graduate teaching centre for
international excellence in creativity and innovation. It is a
key element of the GSA’s national and
international presence, complementing the main campus at Garnethill in Glasgow
and the Singapore campus in partnership with Singapore Institute of Technology.

excellent development for The Glasgow School of Art. The campus location gives
us a fantastic opportunity to research and teach in this vibrant rural area
while contributing to the long-term sustainable development of a creative,
entrepreneurial and internationally connected Highlands and Islands, a vision
we share with our partners Highlands and Islands Enterprise.”

The GSA’s Highlands and Islands
Creative Campus is a further development of the Creative
Futures Partnership between HIE and the GSA. It is set to
bring additional benefits to the region and accelerate the development of an
international reputation for creativity in the Highlands and Islands.

buildings back into productive use as a world class university research and
teaching facility. It is ideal as a permanent location for The Glasgow School

across the Highlands and Islands.”

The GSA’s Institute
of Design Innovation (InDI) has been located in the region for the past five
years and was previously based at Horizon Scotland in The Enterprise Park in
Forres.
