An ongoing project: £300,000 of counterfeit currency distributed around the city transport infrastructure.

Sandys won the £2,000 Barns-Graham Travel Award
and will use it to travel to North Platte, Nebraska, USA where he will create “a
visual and ethnographic study of The Bailey Train Yard and the community
environment – particularly referencing magnitude, materials and local culture.”
At over eight miles across, the Bailey Yard is the largest environment for the
management of freight transport on the planet. Approximately 14,000 carriages
traverse the yard daily and are maintained by several thousand personnel. It is
serviced by the local community and, being placed in the geographic centre of
the United States, is widely recognised as an informal barometer of the
nation’s economic activity.

Presenting primarily in sculpture but
incorporating elements of performance, Sandys work is concerned with structure,
the man-made environment and community. Sandys was selected for RSA New Contemporaries
2013 and has since completed his MFA at The Glasgow School of Art
whilst exhibiting in Scotland and the USA.
