A 2025 Sculpture and Environmental Art graduate has entered the Guinness World Records of 2026.  Emilia Evans-Munton created a huge Sock Monkey Puppet as part of her graduation. The monkey sculpture measures 15.10 m (49 ft 6 in) long and was made using 60 metres of corduroy fabric to cover its surface, and 40 straw bales to give the giant puppet its structure. The puppets eyes were created by repurposing recycled scaffolding board/wood, which became giant buttons for the eyes, each 1.5 metres wide.

The giant work, titled “Remember I’m Still Here”, was displayed outdoors in the Stow building’s carpark during The Glasgow School of Art’s 2025 degree show. The Guinness World Records recently verified her achievement and interviewed her on their official website.

Emilia explains her intention for the giant sculpture:

“The piece is an ode to the toys that are left behind, and the painful pang of losing one’s favourite toy as a child. It lies there in sun, wind, rain and storm; initially pristine, gradually becoming more battered and bruised by the weather, literally having been left behind by the artist, yet discovered by the audience during the duration of its presence at the art school.”

Emilia hopes her work can help individuals connect with their inner child, and often works with objects at scale to provoke an uncanny or otherworldly reaction, inviting audiences into a sense of childlike wonder and fascination.

Emilia’s 2025 Degree Show can be viewed on The Glasgow School of Art’s 2025 undergraduate showcase HERE.
