Melanie Letore, who graduated from the Fine
Art Photography programme at The Glasgow School of Art earlier this year, will be a featured artist in The Skinny Showcase at the 2014 Edinburgh Art Festival. Staged at The Creative Exchange in Leith, the exhibition features work by four recent graduates from
Scotland’s art schools. It runs from 1 – 31 August.

Melanie’s photographic series Places, which is featured in the
showcase, was created in 2013 and 2014 in various locations in Great Britain,
France, Switzerland and Italy, where she worked as an Information Assistant for
the Scotland + Venice exhibition at the Venice Biennale.
“The
Skinny Showcase began in 2008 with the aim to provide emergent artists and
designers with a platform to show their work,” says The Skinny Editor in Chief Rosamund West. “Since then, The Skinny has
selected an artist from each of the Degree Shows in Edinburgh, Glasgow and
Dundee to display their work in the Showcase section of the magazine
in print and online,”

Historically The Skinny
selected students for its summer showcase from Degree Shows. This year they
selected a student from the special School of Fine Art showcase which was
staged in McLellan Galleries following the fire in the Mackintosh Building.
