20th-Century Perspectives, an ambitious
collaboration between the Scottish Ensemble and GSA alumnus, artist Toby Paterson, will
be staged in the Anderston Centre,
it was confirmed today 29 August 2014.
The performances will take place at 6.30pm on 12 and 13 September in an abandoned section of the building not normally accessible to the general public.
Glasgow’s Anderston Centre completed in 1972

Designed by Richard Seifert and completed in 1972 it
is an important Glasgow Modernist landmark and a key part of the city’s
urban renewal project during the 1950s-70s.
Within this striking setting the Scottish Ensemble will
perform music that spans the 20
th-century, including works by ElgarStravinsky, Prokofiev, Xenakis, Britten and Erkki-Sven Tüür. Paterson will create large-scale works that reflect the bold architecture of the space and also frame the
Scottish Ensemble performances.

This project is a major part of the Scottish Ensemble’s
celebration of Jonathan Morton’s 10th
anniversary as leader and artistic director.
